# Views and filters

_One database, many ways to see it — and where each control lives._

Canonical: https://snoze.dev/help/views-and-filters/

A database holds one set of records; **views** are different ways of looking at
them. Each view keeps its own layout, filters, sorts, grouping, and visible
fields — so the same task database can be a triage table for you and a status
board for the team, at the same time, over identical data.

Views are tabs along the top of a database. Click **`+`** at the end of the row
to add one; click the **gear** to the right of the tabs to configure the active
one.

## Where everything lives

| What you want | Where it is |
| --------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------ |
| A different layout — table, list, board, gallery, calendar, timeline, chart | **`+`** on the tab row, or right-click a tab → change layout |
| Show fewer records | **View settings → Filter** |
| Change the order | **View settings → Sort** |
| Split into sections | **View settings → Group** |
| Show or hide fields | **View settings → Properties** |
| Highlight records that match a rule | **View settings → Conditional formatting** |

## The full reference

This page is the map. The detail lives in the reference section:

and what each can be configured to do
- [Filtering records](https://snoze.dev/help/filtering-records/) — every operator, per field type
- [Sorting records](https://snoze.dev/help/sorting-records/) — single and multi-level ordering
- [Grouping records](https://snoze.dev/help/grouping-records/) — sections, board columns, and
  grouping by a relation

> [!TIP]
> Make views for questions you ask repeatedly: "what's mine?", "what ships this
> week?", "what's blocked?". A shared view is saved for everyone, so a good one
> becomes shared vocabulary for the team.
