# Organize your sidebar

_Nesting, reordering, and keeping a growing workspace tidy._

Canonical: https://snoze.dev/help/organize-your-sidebar/

The sidebar is your workspace's table of contents. Everything you make — pages, databases, dashboards, canvases, forms — lives in one tree that you shape however you like.

## Group work in folders

Create folders for projects or teams, then drag items into them. Expand a folder
with its arrow to browse its contents, or collapse it to keep the sidebar tidy.
Pages, databases, files, and other items can sit inside a folder or at the
workspace root.

## Select and organize several items

Hold **Ctrl** (Windows/Linux) or **⌘** (Mac) while clicking to add or remove items
from a selection. **Shift-click** selects a range. You can also drag a rectangle
from an empty area to select items. Press **Escape** to clear the selection.

Drag a selected item to move the whole group, or right-click any selected item
and choose **Move to…**. The same actions are available from the item's **…**
menu. **Move to Trash** asks for confirmation before moving the selected items and
folder contents to Trash. You can restore them from Trash.

Drive offers the same selection tools in grid and list layouts, plus checkboxes.
On a computer, click to select and double-click to open; on a touch device, tap
to open and use the checkboxes to select.

## Download a folder

Choose **Download** from a folder's item menu or Drive's selection bar. Snoze keeps
its folder structure in a ZIP named after the folder. Choose Markdown, HTML, or
Word for pages, and Excel, CSV, or JSON for databases. Whiteboards use
**.snozeboard**; files keep their original format. Forms, views, and other
unsupported item types are skipped. Word exports page text; use HTML to retain
rich formatting.

Tick **Do not ask again** to remember your download formats. You can change them
later with **Download formats…** in an item menu.

## Let search do the remembering

Structure is for browsing; for everything else there's search. Press
**⌘ K** (Ctrl K on Windows) to jump to any item by name, no matter where it
lives in the tree.

> [!TIP]
> Organize for your future self, not for completeness. A shallow tree with a
> few well-named sections beats a deep hierarchy you have to think about. You
> can always restructure later — moving items never breaks links to them.

## What teammates see

The tree is shared: everyone in the workspace sees the same structure for
shared items. Items only you can access appear only for you. If something
seems missing for a teammate, check its sharing settings —
